Gordon McIntyre & Kate Delaney "Blackwaterside" LP Stereo 1981

"Tassie" Ian provided the rip of this album. I have had rips previously, including one of my own, but they have not been of a sufficient quality for putting on the Blog.

Gordon and Kate are well known in Australian folk music circles and I am pleased to finally bring this album to your attention. Overall the music has cleaned up very well but there are a couple of production or editing or production problems I could not fix but only one of those will stand out. The vocals are somewhat overwhelmed by backing music in "Green Rushes"

We have a mix here of English, Irish, Scottish, and Australian and one forebitter. All of you will find something to enjoy here.

The graphics include words for all the songs on the album.

Tracklist: 1. Lassie wi' the yellow coatie. 2. Alan McLean. 3. Fisherrow. 4.Poor ditching boy. 5. Blackwaterside. 6. The Bullgine Run. 7. The lost Sailor. 8.The cork leg. 9. Green Rushes. 10. My love is like a red red rose. 11. Currency Lasses.

Each upload is a single compressed file which need to be decompressed to extract the music and graphics files.

Gordon McIntyre and Danny Spooner "Revived and Relieved" LP 1978

A great combination - Gordon McIntyre and Danny Spooner teaming up to produce this 1978 album. Unsurprisingly, six of the tracks are unaccompanied but others have some musical and vocal support from fellow artists, Tom Rummery, Kate Delaney, Roger Fisken, Mike Jackson and Steve Ellis - details on reverse of slip.

The tracks are a mix of British Isles and Australian traditional songs and tunes.

This is another of the offerings from the Victorian Bush Folkie. Once again, many thanks.

Still a few glitches in some of the tracks but nothing likely to mar your listening pleasure.

NFF 2xCD Compilation "35 years" (1967-2001) Released 2003

Merry Christmas all. This 2 CD set is a selection of tracks representing performances at what is now known as the National Folk Festival across its first 35 years (1967-2001). The greater majority are by Australian based performers (foreign born or otherwise). As such it provides a good sampling of local performers and the wide range of their offerings. This set has long been out-of-print but releases by some of these artists are still readily available from commercial or internet sources. Of course there are artists whose work could not be featured on this set and other artists have emerged since 2001.
Some of the featured artists have sadly gone to "Fiddlers Green" but they live again in these recordings.
All tracks are MP3 @320VBR. In total, just over 200MB.

Download CD1 and Graphics Folder- From MediaFire
Download CD2 - From MediaFire

You will need to decompress these files to be able to play the tracks.

Warren Fahey and the Larrikins "Billy of Tea" LP 1978

Another great LP from Ian of Tassie (and more yet to come).

This is a 1978 album. Warren Fahey provided vocals and his oft-changing group of Larrikins was then:-
Jacko Kevans - vocals, accordion and concertina.
Gordon McIntyre - vocals, guitar, dulcimer and tenor banjo.
Kate Delaney - vocals, whistle and bodhram.
Roger Fisken - fiddle and mandolin.
Steve Ellis - vocals, guitar and mandolin.

Most of the tracks are the Australian folk standards but there are a couple of exceptions including a New Zealand penned tribute to Captain Cook - and a good one too - a somewhat (now) politically incorrect traditional about chinese workers and the British Isles popular traditional "Jones' Ale" aka "When Jones' ale was new". All tracks performed at the expected high standard. There were some minor problems with the material and it cleaned up to a good degree but there are the occasional residual glitches but really nothing that will mar your listening pleasure.

Tracklist:
1. Brisbane Ladies
2. Maggie May
3. The Eumerella Shore
4. Heenan & Sayers
5. Tunes (unnamed dance tunes)
6. The New Chum Shearer
7. The Tolerant Man
8. Captain Cook
9. The New Chum Chinaman
10. Gooriannawa
11. Broken Down Squatter
12. The Rabbiter
13 One of the Hasbeens
14 Jones' Ale
